Monica and Erik got married on a beautiful vantage point overlooking Huntington Beach, CA. It wasa gorgeous ceremony and I was so glad to be a part of it!
The Sun was out in all it's glory and that presented a real tough challenge. The sun was high and just a little behind them during the ceremony casting really hard, nasty shadows on their faces. No worries, Fill flash to the rescue.
The flash really softened the hardness of the sun and saved the day!
In this harsh direct sun it takes constant fussing to keep my artistic vision exposed properly. If I move 3 feet to the left it's a different setting, then back 1 foot to the right and guess what... A different setting. This is where knowing your equipment makes a big difference. I can adjust my flash exposure and drop the ambient without even lowering the camera from my eye.
For those of you just starting out just use 1 setting. Set your camera to expose for the scene and let the flash do the work.
A few more of the images from the day!
