Corporate Event: Houlihan Lokey Christmas Party 2010!

The Houlihan Lokey 2010 Christmas Party was a blast. For a bunch of investment bankers these guys sure knew how to throw a party. Casino games, raffles featuring HD TV's and quite the buffet and desert spread. "Carnival" was the theme and it was a really fun event!

It was a very challenging event to shoot though. It was at Aqua Lounge in Beverly Hills and every room was different. The main room was entirely black (walls and ceilings), the bar area was white, the craps table room was all peach... It was a constant flash battle to dial in the exposure, as well as get a nice directional light and not just blast everything with straight on camera flash.

We also set up a photo booth so as people entered the event the could have their picture taken with two costumed characters. We had to move form our original set up position because of some complications with the entrance props and we ended up getting shoved into a really narrow corridor not more that 4 feet wide. So, I used my Quantum, through a Wescott 54'' Round Halo. It was incredibly tight especially when groups of 5 or more wanted a picture together. I did not want any barreling and distortion issues. So, because I know my Canon 24-70 stops barreling around 28mm, I tried to keep it around 30mm.

The decor was beautiful, they brought in amazing flowers, lighting, furniture and more...

The raffle was amazing and at the end of night every square inch of counter space look like this. This was one raffle you really wanted to win!

  3. Many event photographers charge Marine Corps Units just to come out to do their Marine Corps Ball photography. In 99% of the cases, good companies do not charge the Unit to come out for their Marine Corps Ball. Photographer
